Ooraminna to Broome

8 NIGHT TOUR
Bike: Honda AFRICA TWIN
Dates: 20th - 28th April 2021
Departing from Ooraminna Station, Alice Springs, this tour heads north to the Tanami Track before turning off to Papunya, and the great open dirt roads. Heading west, the tour stops off at a local Indigenous community, Kunawarritji (Well 33) located on the Canning Stock Route, before continuing to Marble Bar, a town and rock formation in the Pilbara. The tour then continues to follow the west coast up to the coastal, pearling and tourist town of Broome.

7 NIGHT TOUR

Dates: 7th - 14th May, 2021
From Kununurra you'll make your way to Emma Gorge for a swim before you tackle rocky water crossings into El Questro. You'll continue a journey west with spectacular scenery as you head for Munurru. There will be plenty of swimming at Mitchell Falls and again at the beautiful Mount Barnett Station swimming hole. You'll see the spectacular Windjana Gorge and then get back on the bitumen on your way into Broome.

Dates: 16th - 24th of May 2021
Departing the beautiful Lake Argyle, you will follow the Savannah Way as you cross the border from Western Australia into Northern Territory stopping at a number of locations including Victoria River Downs, The Daly Waters Pub and a township as isolated as any in the Northern Territory, Borroloola. As you ride into Queensland, spend time exploring the scenic Lawn Hill National Park before making your way to Karumba and spending the night in the Gulf before continuing your journey onto Cairns.
Ooraminna To Broome Itinerary
Leaving our overnight stay we will head through Alice and out towards the Tanami before turning left and heading west calling into Papunya and Kintore communities. Late afternoon we will make camp just west of the WA border.
Gravel roads start to get a few light sand drifts in spots as we make our way toward the Canning Stock Route. Scenery changes and it feels like you are on the Canning Stock route a little between small dunes before we pop out at the Kunawarritji community (Well 33 CSR) for fuel. We continue on for a few more hours before making camp for the night.
Dirt roads today start to improve before we hit bitumen for the first time in well over 1500km and you get to see some of the beautiful rocky cliff faces in the Pilbara region on our way into Marble Bar.
Early look at the Comet Gold Mine in Marble Bar before head towards Karijini arriving mid afternoon for 2 nights and some time to explore the gorges in the park.
Explore Karajini on your own time
All day on the bitumen heading through the outskirts of Port Headland and into Eighty Mile Beach for a fish for the afternoon enjoying this beautiful coast line.
Final day and an easy run into Broome and time to talk about this great trip over dinner near our accommodation.
Kununurra To Broome Itinerary
You arrived the day before and we picked you up from Kununurra. This is your first day on the Africa Twin as we ride back into Kununurra and make our way to Emma Gorge for a swim. It’s then a short ride across some rocky water crossings and into El Questro for your first night.
Today is a long day with spectacular scenery along the Gibb River Road as we pass Home Valley Station and head for Munurru with a lunch stop and some scones along the way. We do a refuel at Drysdale Station before our final leg of the day. Time for a swim!
Early start as you ride into Mitchell Falls for the day walking and swimming in this beautiful area. We arrive back at camp (Munurru)before last light.
Slight back track today making our way down to the Gibb River Road junction before heading west passing awesome rocky escarpments and spending the night at Mount Barnett Station with another beautiful swimming hole.
Highlight of day 5 is Windjana Gorge and we head for a lunch stop at the gorge. After a walk in viewing this spectacular gorge we make our way for Derby and onto the bitumen. Tonights camp is Wilare Roadhouse on the green grass.
Easy day on the bitumen and some small sandy sections as we make our way into Willie Creek Pearl Farm for lunch. After lunch we do a short ride into Broome and check you into your cabins. Once checked in you have free time to explore Broome and we catch up for a farewell feed.

Kununurra To Cairns Itinerary
Depart Lake Argyle and head out to the Victoria Highway crossing the border from Western Australia into the Northern Territory. Eventually stopping and filling up with fuel at Timber Creek.
After departing Timber Creek, it’s not long before we turn right onto the dirt and a couple of hundred kilometres later we end up at our first nights camp, Victoria River Downs.
Depart Victoria River Downs and head out to Top Springs on the Bachanan Highway, eventually hitting the Stuart Highway. About 36 kilometres up the Stuart Highway we camp at the Daly Waters Pub.
Depart Daly Waters Pub onto the Carpentaria Highway, passing through Cape Crawford, McArthur River and onto Borroloola for a pit stop. Out of Borroloola onto the dirt, we head for the Northern Territory Queensland border, eventually arriving at our nights camp, Hellsgate Roadhouse.
Depart Hellsgate Roadhouse and make our way for arrival before lunch into Lawnhill National Park, giving you the afternoon to explore and camp the night.
Departing Lawhill, we head to Gregory Downs, Burketown, Normanton and into Karumba. At Karumba we check out the Barramundi Research Centre, spending the night in the Gulf.
Departing Karumba, we head up the Burke Development Road to Dunbar. Depending on river heights we either ride further into the bottom of Cape York, towards Cairns or we continue along the Burke Development Road towards Chillagoe.
Ride and arrival into Cairns with a farewell dinner and celebrations.
