Did you know? Johannesburg is located at an altitude of 1753 metres above sea level.

We’re always interested in the background of a destination, in this case we discovered that this city has been rebuilt four times.

After rebuilding, Johannesburg has been classed as the largest man made ‘urban’ forest in the world. With 1.2 million trees planted around pavements and sidewalks, and a further 4.8 million planted in private gardens.

From the city, you can head out to go bunjee jumping between the converted old cooling towers in Soweto, or if you’re looking for more adventure you can make your way out to Pilanesberg National Park to see some incredible animals in the wild.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup gave us a chance to explore the city up close and personal and here those incredible vuvuzelas live and in all their glory.

It was amazing to get to travel for the awesome event and get to experience the biggest city in South Africa come to life.

Between sporting spectacles and the incredible nature on offer there’s so much left to explore, we can’t wait to get back.
