Specific cabins, sizes, decks or bed type, views from the balcony featured in the brochure are to be used as a guide only and cannot be guaranteed. Where cabins are described as twin cabins they may have two lower beds, or a double bed or a lower bed plus sofa bed. Some cabins may also have upper bunks for additional travelling companions. All cabins have en-suite bathrooms with shower or shower over bath. Cabin sizes and layouts are a guide only and may vary.
Q. What is included in my room?
A. Besides the beds of course, all rooms include a mini bar, TV, interactive TV, safe hairdryer, air conditioning and telephone.
Q. Are there cabins for passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility?
A. Yes, all ships in the fleet contain a number of specially fitted cabins. These cabins should be requested at the time of booking.

Check-in and Embarkation
Q. What time can I check-in for my cruise?
A. Embarkation commences at the time indicated on your cruise e-ticket. Arriving at the wharf early does not guarantee early embarkation, so to avoid congestion and long wait times, please do not arrive prior to your published check-in time.
Q. What is the latest time I can check-in for my cruise?
A. Check-in closes two and half hours before the ship is due to depart.
Q. Do I need luggage tags?
A. Scanned baggage labels are provided with your e-documentation before you leave Australia/New Zealand. We recommend labelling all bags beforehand with guest surname, first name, ship name, cabin number, cruise date of departure and departure port. As the baggage labels are paper we recommend only applying these the night before, or if arrival to port is straight from airport, please affix the labels after collection of bag at airport before transferring to the port.
Q. What is involved in the check-in and embarkation process?
A. Upon Embarkation: All passengers should proceed as follows (in order specified):
a) Deliver luggage to the staff and designated area at the port with baggage labels affixed and it will be delivered directly to your cabin.
b) At the check-in area, present your e-cruise documents, web check-in receipt and all personal travel documents required including valid passports for all travellers for your cruise. NOTE: Even if you have completed web check-in prior to departure from Australia or New Zealand and received e-documents you MUST present the section headed EMBARKATION FORM for each passengers (adult or child) in printed copy to the check-in staff with your passport.
c) After document check, passengers proceed through immigration and security checks and embark the ship. Proceed to your cabin where your Cruise Card for all passengers in the cabin can be found. The Cruise Card is a magnetic card used for access to your cabin and for onboard payment of bar bills, excursions, laundry, in-cabin purchases, spa, beauty centre, hairdresser, duty free, shops, photographer and service charges to a central account.
To activate the Cruise Card and register your form of preferred payment make your way to the Cruise Activation Points/Totems located throughout the ships where you are able to register your Cruise Card against your credit/debit/travel card up to 24 hours after embarkation. A daily onboard credit amount will be held in suspense to cover expenses against your credit card, this will not be released until the night prior to departure of your cruise. NOTE: For Credit/Debit/Travel cards, they may require a PIN number, so please check with your bank prior to departure from Australia and/or New Zealand. Pre-authorisations are not applied to Debit/Travel/Cash Cards.
A cash deposit of EUR150 per person or EUR250 per family (2adults and 2 children) can be arranged with the Customer Service or Reception desk. Personal cheques are not accepted. Should the onboard expenses exceed the Card amount, a top up will be required for the Cruise Card. e) At the end of the cruise if the deposit is more than the purchases made, the balance will be refunded to the passenger. For Debit/Travel/Cash Cards, the amounts will be refunded in cash in the onboard currency.
We would like to remind you that as a safety precaution, security staff may search a passenger and/or their luggage and can confiscate any articles that The Carrier considers could risk the safety of the passengers, crew or ship. On-board staff reserves the right to remove any food or beverages present in passenger’s baggage. These will be returned the evening before disembarkation. Passengers are not permitted to bring unpackaged food on board.
Q. Where does my cruise depart from?
A. Marseille, France however the departure wharf, as well as your arrival wharf will be displayed on your eTicket and on your booking confirmation.

Disembarkation Process
Q. What time can I expect to disembark the ship?
A. Disembarkation is staggered and usually begins approximately 30 minutes after the ship’s arrival in port. Disembarkation is usually completed within three hours of arriving into port, however, this can vary.

Flights & Transfers
Q. I am booking my own flights, what arrival and departure times do you recommend?
A. Sportsnet recommends being in Marseille at least two (2) hours prior to your cruise departure time. If you do need to make changes to your own flight booking, your chosen airline may charge fees, so check their airfare conditions when you book.
Q. Can I book transfers from the airport to the cruise terminal through Sportsnet?
A. No.

Food and Beverages
Q. Can I bring food or drink onboard?
A. No, although food and drink may be bought on board.

Luggage, Clothes and Electrical
Q. How much luggage can I bring?
A. Two pieces of luggage per person is the accepted limit. Please check your cruise ticket for more accurate detail.
Q. What do I wear onboard?
A. Lightweight, loose clothing, sunscreen and head covering are ideal for daytime. For informal evenings, we recommend casual dresses for women and a lightweight jacket for men. For formal evenings, gala dinners or Captain’s cocktail parties, a cocktail dress for the ladies and lightweight or dark suit or dinner jacket for the men is recommended. There are usually at least 2-3 gala or formal evenings per cruise. Throughout the cruise (day or night) there maybe theme parties, including 60s, floral, white or Italian parties. Dressing in theme is NOT compulsory. Please note there are no shops onboard to purchase, make or hire theme costumes or dinner suits. The dress of the day is published in the Daily Program.
A sweater or shawl is handy for unexpected changes in temperature or air-conditioning from interior to the exterior of the ship. For excursions including visits to sacred or religious sites we advise appropriate clothing or covering (covered knees, heads and/or shoulders, no low-cut tops or short shorts). Cruising in the European cooler months may require a rain or heavier jacket and an umbrella. A laundry service is available onboard for a nominal fee. There is no self-serve laundry facilities on any of the ships.
Q. What type of electrical sockets are onboard?
A. Electricity on board all ships is supplied at a voltage of 110V/220V 60 cycles AC in the cabins. International adaptors including European/Asia/Japan and USA plugs are recommended to be taken with you as only a limited supply are available from the Information Office.
Q. Can I bring electrical appliances with me?
A. The only electrical appliances permitted in cabins are: electric shavers and hairdryers, battery chargers and computers. Heat-generating devices including irons & hair irons, electric kettles, bottle warmers, electric blankets etc are not allowed onboard.

Medical, Dietary and Special Requirements
Q. Medical conditions or mobility issues; do I need to let you know?
A. Passengers with a condition that may affect fitness to travel including reduced mobility and/or disable requirements must advise their agent and/or MSC Cruises and submit an MSC Special Needs Form and a doctor’s certificate prior to booking. Any specific transport, assistance needs and/or lodging requirements must be communicated at the time the booking is made and is subject to availability and confirmation. We also advise our guests to carry the list of medicines they intend to take on board with them, to allow on-board medical staff to provide assistance in the event of a medical emergency.
Q. Can I bring my medical equipment to use onboard?
A. Unless the Carrier agrees otherwise and in writing, passengers are limited to bringing two (2) items of such mobility or medical equipment onboard per cabin with a total value not exceeding EUR2,200. All equipment must be capable of being carried safely and must be declared before the cruise.
Q. Do you cater for special dietary requirements onboard?
A. Any special dietary requirements/allergies or special requests must be advised in as much detail as possible at the time of your cruise booking and prior to departure from Australia or New Zealand. Descriptions such as “Vegetarian” are not sufficient. A supplementary charge may apply to these dietary or special requests including birthday cakes, anniversary cakes etc. Kosher menus (pre-packaged) and Halal products (beef, lamb and poultry) are available on selected itineraries or ships, however they must be requested at least 2 months prior to cruise departure, please check at time of booking. MSC Cruises works closely with the Italian Celiac Association to provide gluten-free menus in the main restaurant when cruising in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
Q. Do you cater for guests with disabilities?
A. Yes, MSC Cruises and its staff are constantly striving to provide the best service possible for all guests, including those of reduced mobility or disabilities. All decks and public areas of our ships are accessible to guests with reduced mobility.
Disable guests or guests with reduced mobility must make MSC Cruises and/or their agent aware at time of booking and complete all relevant Special Needs Forms as required prior to making final payment. Any specific transport assistance needs must be communicated at the time the booking to MSC Cruises or the agent and is subject to availability until confirmed. Please refer to Booking Conditions page 116-119 Clause 16.1-16.10 for further information for disabled guests or guests with reduced mobility.
Q. I require a mobility device; can I hire a mobility device to use onboard?
A. Yes, you can. Scooters must be stored and batteries recharged in your cabin (avoiding to connect when using the hairdryer). Keep in mind that the scooter minimizes the available space within your cabin.
Due to safety considerations, wheelchairs and scooters cannot be stored in the corridors. Your personal scooter should be able to fit in a standard cabin with a limited entry doorway (58 cm on MSC Divina). If your scooter is larger than the dimension reported for your chosen ship, you should book an H stateroom or rent a smaller scooter. Segways and other similar vehicles cannot be operated on board. They shall be confiscated and can be taken off the ship to be used while in port.
Q. Will I need vaccinations?
A. We strongly advise that you contact your doctor or an approved public health travel advisory service for information on vaccinations:
Australian public health authorities strongly recommend that all cruise ship passengers receive influenza vaccination at least two weeks before the start of their cruise. It is important that you see your doctor 6-8 weeks prior to departure to discuss and plan all necessary travel vaccines, including influenza vaccine.

Onboard Payment
Q. What is the currency onboard?
A. Prices onboard the ship will be in Euros.
Q. How do I pay onboard?
A. All on board purchases are made with the personal cruise card, eliminating the need to carry cash or credit cards. Cash deposits can be made or a credit card can be registered to the cruise card at any time during a cruise.

A. Tipping is not required as it is included in the cruise price.
Q. Can I do my laundry onboard?
A. Yes, there is an on board laundry service, available for a fee. A price list is provided in the cabin, or by calling 99 from the telephone in your cabin.
Q. Where can I keep my valuables?
A. Passengers are strongly advised to use the complimentary Safe Deposit boxes for valuables. Safe Deposit boxes are provided in all cabins on all ships. If passengers are travelling with expensive camera equipment or video equipment, it helps to carry receipts in order to avoid unnecessary delays in clearing customs. Passengers must ensure they are properly insured. The Carrier assumes no responsibility for loss or theft of money or valuables stored in cabins, in luggage or left unattended.
Q. Where can I smoke?
A. In line with global standards, smoking areas on board are fewer than non-smoking areas and are indicated by signage and ashtrays. Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted in cabins, on cabin balconies and anywhere not expressly indicated by signage and ashtrays. We remind you that throwing cigarette butts or anything else overboard at sea is strictly prohibited as it may seriously put in danger safety at sea.

Passport, Visas and Insurance
Q. Do I need a passport and visa?
A. All passengers (including children and infants) must be in possession of a current full passport, valid for the entire period of the cruise holiday with the required correct number of blank pages and must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date to Australia or New Zealand. Visas are not needed for this cruise.
Q. Do I need travel insurance?
A. We strongly recommend you purchase appropriate international travel insurance at the time you pay your deposit. If you do not purchase travel insurance you may not be able to recover cancellation charges, medical costs, repatriation and other expenses that may arise if things to do not go according to plan. Australian Medicare, New Zealand ACC and private health insurance will not cover you for any medical costs on board. All cruises (even cruises that do not visit foreign ports) require international travel insurance.
You should not base your insurance decision on the assumption ‘it won’t happen to me’ – accidents or illness can happen to anyone. Daily hospital bills can cost more than AUD5000 per day. For further information or to purchase travel insurance please contact your travel consultant at Sportsnet Holidays.
Q. Is there internet onboard?
A. Wireless Internet “HOTSPOTS” for all ships can be accessed by your laptop or PDA. To access the hot spot service, just select the amount of credit you require at the relevant EURO charge and it will be charged to your onboard cabin account. The Daily Program offers internet package at great value or you can purchase special internet packages on www.msccruises.com.au at reduced rates prior to cruising.
