Staged at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is one of the fastest and most picturesque races on the MotoGP™ calendar. The track is a favourite amongst riders, with the much acclaimed Valentino Rossi an 8-time winner at the circuit. Wind, and sometimes tricky conditions only add to a spectacle that is framed by the magnificent Phillip Island scenery. And with the vibrant cultural hub of Melbourne a short drive down the coast, fans are never short of pre and post race entertainment!
The 2016 edition of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix lived up to it’s hype, with the added drama of world champion and pole-sitter Marc Marquez crashing out. Marquez slid off at Honda corner on Lap 10, clearing the way for LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow to ride on to only his second win in first class racing! Crutchlow finished ahead of Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi, who begun in 15th, and Suzuki star, Maverick Vinales.
