Event Details

The Superbike World Championship’s class leading category features production-based racing motorcycles. In comparison with standard road models, a WorldSBK machine is allowed certain modifications: engine management, exhaust system, suspension, brakes and a number of engine parts. The bike must weigh a minimum of 168kg, with power ranging between 70cc and 1200cc, depending on the number of cylinders the engine contains. Since limited technical modifications were introduced in 2015, tuning bikes is now subject to more limitations than in previous years.

Unlike MotoGP™ in which the bikes are complete prototype machines built from the ground-up to race, WorldSBK bikes are based on production models that can be bought by anyone. Because production motorcycles have to meet strict rules and regulations in order to be sold, there’s a lot more parity between the models in which WorldSBK machines are based to begin with. The final result? A class of racing that is unbelievably competitive and exciting!
