How To Meet Your Favourite Drivers At The 2017

Attending a Formula One™ race is the experience of a lifetime, and that’s doubly true when you’re heading to the home of F1® night racing! Naturally you want to make the most of your experience, so nailing down a driver for an autograph or selfie is always on the agenda. Unfortunately, this can sometimes prove difficult, so we’ve compiled a list of the best ways to meet your favourite F1® driver at the 2017 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX!

Drivers Autograph Session

As with every Formula One™ race, Singapore holds a drivers autograph session. This is held on the Thursday before the race weekend, but unlike other Grand Prix’s, this session is extremely exclusive. You will need to win tickets to get inside. Check here for the latest contests or keep an eye on your email for more chances to win passes.

Sportsnet’s 5th Annual Singapore Grand Prix Lunch

Sportsnet’s Singapore Grand Prix Lunch, now in its 5th edition, is a major drawcard for diehard racing fans. Including an extensive overview of the upcoming race, an up-close interview with a special guest legend of the sport, and opportunities for autographs & photos, it always proves popular. Previous guests have included Damon Hill, David Coulthard and Alan Jones. If you’re wanting more one on one time than your typical autograph signing session, and more insight into an F1® drivers experience, then this function is for you!

If you’ve lost out on tickets to the signing sessions, then be sure to keep an eye on team and driver social media accounts and websites. They frequently post giveaways, and if you’re lucky might offer the chance to meet a driver. Also check major sponsors social media in the weeks leading up to the race, as they often hold small events over the race weekend featuring the drivers. However you’ll need to be quick, as drivers are usually only present at these for 10-15 minutes at a time.

Driver Spotting

If none of the above will work for you, then try one of these methods to grab that much wanted selfie with your favourite F1® star! Make sure you remain respectful, and remember the drivers and their staff are people too. In these situations the drivers aren’t obliged to speak to you, but most are happy to have a quick photo or whip up an autograph.

– If your detective skills are up to scratch it’s worth trying to find out who’s staying where. Then it’s simply a case of waiting outside and catching drivers as they enter or leave the hotel. You’ll have to be patient, and always be polite to the hotel staff.

– There’s a massive range of 2017 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX tickets available. Some will even allow you to wait outside the paddock entrance, which is a prime location for driver spotting! Your best opportunity will be to catch the stars around 2 hours before the race, so you can get your snap with Hamilton before the race kicks off!

– If you’re a Red Bull fan, head to Wisma Atria Shopping Centre on 13th September, where TAG Heuer x Red Bull will hold an exclusive meet and greet with appearances by Red Bull drivers and TAG Heuer ambassadors.

– If you would like to meet your favourite drivers in style, there is a suite of after-parties kicking off when the circuit lights dim. Head to the official post-race party at Amber Lounge on 17th September for a chance to see drivers and teams mid post-race celebration. Who knows, you might be able to sneak into The Podium Lounge to watch American award-winning performers Coolio and Macy Gray! More details here.

The Pit Lane Experience

You probably won’t get to see the drivers here, but the Pit Lane Experience – taking place one day before the Circuit Park opens – will give you an exclusive first-hand view of the team garages and Formula One™ cars. Witness the mechanics going about their business, and all the behind the scenes workings of Formula One™ races. You can then explore interactive activities at the F1® Village in Zone 1 of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, be entertained by live stage performances and roving acts, purchase memorabilia at the merchandise booths, and chow down on the plethora of food & drink available! Entries to win these coveted passed have now closed, but you can check your email, or here for updates if you were lucky enough to enter.
