Royal Belfast Golf Club
One of only a handful in Ireland to have ‘Royal’ prefix their name, the Royal Belfast Golf Club was formed in 1881 and was one of nine Ulster clubs who founded the Golf Union of Ireland in 1891. Members first played on an 18-hole course at Kinnegar, Holywood in 1882 but within 10 years the course became so busy – and the land was being used as a rifle range – that they moved to Carnalea near Bangor, this time playing on a 9-hole course. In 1925, the club finally relocated to its present 140-acre site on the south shore of Belfast Lough at Craigavad, Holywood where the views across the water to the Antrim hills are quite delightful.

And a measure of its enduring quality, it remains one of the most respected venues in World golf. No other golf course in Ireland has been graced by so many distinguished players in a rich history encompassing a broad range of significant events. It’s where Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead successfully followed its serpentine route through classic linkland on their way to victory in the 1 960 Canada Cup. And it is where another generation of Americans, including Phil Mickleson and David Duval, secured a memorable Walker Cup triumph in 1 991 . These events along with 1 9 stagings of The European Tour’s Irish Open Championship, reflect the quality of a searching examination across the link’s twenty seven holes.

Trump International Golf Links
Anyone who has been to these lands, who has felt the impressive power of the Atlantic Ocean forcing its way along the rugged Clare coastline or smelled its rain washed air knows why this land at Doonbeg is so unique.Spanning 1.5 miles of crescent shaped beach and sand dunes, the Dr Martin Hawtree newly re-designed course at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg is a stunning sight to behold and offers views of the Atlantic from 16 of 18 holes. The average time taken for a round of golf is four hours and thirty minutes. The par-72 layout features a single loop of nine holes out and nine back, playing 7,026 yards from the back tees.
