2024 Formula 1® Season Preview
Published by on February 08, 2024
This year's calendar is the longest in Formula 1® history, with 24 races spread across five continents. With two additional Grands Prix, a new record for races in a season will be set.
Bahrain will host the season's opening race in March, and Abu Dhabi will host the season finale. The remaining races will consist of seven stand-alone races, four double-headers, and three triple-headers.
It is safe to say the scene is set for a huge 2024 season!
KEY CHANGES FOR THE 2024 FORMULA 1® SEASON
Several notable calendar changes have been made to Formula 1® as part of an effort to increase regionalisation.
The Japanese Grand Prix will move to early April, with China and the Shanghai International Circuit returning for the first time since 2019. As a result, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will shift to September, forming a double-header with the Singapore Grand Prix.
Two newcomers will host Sprint races this year, with the Miami and China GPs joining the list of 6.
In addition, we will see two teams renamed, with Alfa Romeo rebranding into 'Stake', and AlphaTauri rebranding into 'Visa Cash App RB'.

2024 FORMULA 1® RACE FORMATS
Teams and stakeholders have backed a change to Formula 1's sprint format for 2024 to make race weekends easier to follow. A few teams have proposed moving the qualifying 'shootout' to Friday, with the 100km race then being held on the Saturday morning before qualifiers. Sports Advisory Committee members will address timing and parc ferme regulations for a final proposal to be presented to the F1® Commission at the first meeting of 2024. Any potential changes to the Sprint format will be announced following the meeting.
FORMULA 1® MILESTONES IN 2024
With the 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship™ marking its 75th year of competition, there will be plenty of milestones to look forward to.
Many of these will be determined by Max Verstappen in 2024. This season Max could (and most likely will):
Reach four world championships - Only 5 other drivers in history have four world championships to their name.
100th podium victory - Sitting at 98 podium victories, a 100th podium victory should be easily achievable for Max this season.
Most wins for a Red Bull driver – With 54 wins in the Red Bull, Max is just six wins away from having won more races than all other Red Bull drivers combined.
