The 2020 Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley perhaps better known around the globe as the Italian MotoGP™ or Mugello MotoGP™ is well regarded as one of the most challenging races on the MotoGP™ calendar! The Mugello MotoGP™ takes place in the breathtaking region of Tuscany and is staged at one of the most up-to-date and scenic race circuits in the world – The Mugello Circuit. As a circuit, Mugello proposes many difficulties for riders – consisting in a blend of slow and fast turns with sweeping curves, long straights and off-camber corners, ensuring rider’s attributes and capabilities are put to the test! Riders reach remarkable speeds 350km/h throughout this famous circuit – with the longest straight measuring 1.141km, delivering sharp sights and the beautiful distinct sounds of the two-wheel speed machines!

Entering the Circuito Del Mugello you’ll feel Italy’s undeniable love affair with motorcycle racing – which is long, enduring and full of passion. Italy has many reasons to have such an affair with the facets of great two-wheeled motorsports, enjoying a rich and proud history, having produced highly celebrated riders such as Valentino Rossi and Giacomo Agostini, and in addition being home to some of the most established motorcycle manufacturers such as Ducati, Aprilla, Mondial, Moto Guzzi and Cagiva, to name a few!

The Mugello MotoGP race day atmosphere is captivating to say the least – with crowds ticking over 150,000 over the course of three days, exuding passion and excitement! You’ll find current one rider in particular having a strong crowd focus and following, that is of course home-grown hero – Valentino Rossi! The support for Rossi from his home fans is somewhat remarkable and a spectacle in itself – as Rossi soars past his ‘tribunes’ (grandstand specifically for Rossi fans) on his Yamaha YZR-M1, the section astonishingly generates a thunderous roar exceeding the emphatic sounds of the bikes. On the back of being the most successful rider at the Italian MotoGP™ with 7 victories to his name – Rossi’s competition has bridged the gap on his previous domination immensely! Former teammate and now arch-rival Jorge Lorenzo in recent times has made Mugello his own – with Rossi’s victory tally well within his grasp (with 6 Mugello total victories), equalling Rossi’s record in 2020 on Italian soil would be a moment to savour for the Spaniard! Another MotoGP™ force to be reckoned with is of course is Marc Marquez – Marquez on a good day will more often than not wipe the track on his Repsol Honda, whilst his record isn’t as prolific as Rossi’s and Lorenzo’s at Mugello, there is no doubting Marquez’ ability to be the first to pass the chequered flag. Fellow Italian riders Andrea DovisiosoAndrea Iannone and of course 2019 winner, Danilo Petrucci will also have a mass of support from the crowd and will certainly be looking to impress in front of the Italian faithful!
