Magic Round is a concept unique to rugby league that was first introduced in the NRL in 2019 when 134,677 fans came to see every team play across four action-packed days in Brisbane. After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the popular concept returned with a bang, with over 130,000 fans turning out over three days in 2021 and 2022.
2023 is set to be one of the biggest yet, with 16 teams descending on Queensland’s home of rugby league for a festival of football like no other. The newcomers Redcliffe Dolphins will play their first-ever Magic Round match against the Sharks, however, their inclusion in the competition means Newcastle will miss out in 2023.
