Which team will hold aloft the Webb Ellis Cup at the tournament’s conclusion on Saturday November 2 at the International Stadium Yokohama is anyone’s guess! Chasing their third Rugby World Cup in a row, reigning champions New Zealand will be the hot favourites, however recent losses against Australia and the British and Irish Lions (and even Ireland!) have shown that the New Zealanders aren’t as unbeatable as many considered.
Despite relatively poor form in recent months, Australia never fail to rise to the occasion of a Rugby World Cup and will no doubt be a strong contender once again. Despite also having a less-than-ideal lead up into RWC 2015, Australia were undefeated in their Pool and ended up making it all the way to The Final, where they performed strongly despite ultimately failing against a super impressive New Zealand.
Having improved immensely to rise to Number 2 in the World Rugby Rankings since their disappointing home Rugby World Cup in 2015, England looms as perhaps the biggest threat to New Zealand’s reign of Rugby World Cup supremacy since 2011. Former Australia coach and current England head coach, Eddie Jones, will be particularly keen to exact revenge on Australia should the opportunity present itself – having effectively been knocked out of the 2015 tournament at the hands of Australia! What’s more, (at the time of writing), England have only lost just one match since their unsuccessful RWC 2015 campaign.
To enquire about a RWC 2019 tour or travel package, please select a travel option above (for example, Escorted Tour, Match Break package etc), then select the package you’re interested in and then finally, complete the Enquiry Form at the bottom of the package page. One of our friendly, expert travel consultants will then be in touch with you very shortly to discuss your travel requirements. We’ll then put together an experience that will have you counting down the days until your trip more than 18 months out from the tournament!
Cheers and hopefully you can join us in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ to be a part of what is shaping up to be the most extraordinary Rugby World Cup ever!
