TENNIS

Tennis in 2023 takes on a different look. The greatest player of all time in many peoples’ books, Roger Federer, has retired. Australian fan favourite, Ash Barty, has retired, alongside the long dominant Serena Williams on the WTA Circuit. Novak Djokovic is set to return to the Australian Open and will have a much busier schedule on his plate, whilst Rafael Nadal is still playing at an unbelievable level at 36 years of age.

Yet, whilst these legends of the Tennis world have entered retirement, and some enter their twilight years, a new generation of players are on the rise, and boy are they something to be excited about.

Carlos Alcaraz had a meteoric rise on the ATP Circuit in 2022, winning his first Grand Slam at just 19 years of age and finds himself at the top of the Men’s ATP rankings heading into 2023. Norwegian starlet Casper Ruud reached two Grand Slam Finals (the US Open & French Open) and respectively finds himself 3rd in the rankings.

On the WTA side of things, new world number 1, Iga Świątek is coming into 2023 in hot form, after a 37-game winning streak, and collecting her second & third Grand Slam titles at the French Open & US Open in 2022, whilst 18-year-old American Coco Gauff is sure to challenge for her first Grand Slam title, and there would be no place better to kick things off than the Australian Open in January.

As the weather finally starts to heat up in Melbourne, and summer finally arrives, there is one thing that screams summer above all else, it’s the Australian Open Tennis Championship.

The first Grand Slam of the 2023 ATP & 2023 WTA Circuits is sure to give justice to these emerging storylines in the world of Tennis, and there’s no better place to be than right at the heart of the Melbourne Park sporting precinct, where you could enjoy the comfort of Rod Laver Arena, John Cain Arena (& more specifically the Sportsnet Super Suite) & all of the surrounding festivities.
