Sportsnet Holidays 2024 EOY Wrap

Published by on December 29, 2024

2024 was a momentous year for Sportsnet Holidays. We broke attendance records at many of our favourite annual events, launched new exclusive travel partnerships with Supercars and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, moved into our new office and had 6 new team members join the ranks… just to name a few of the highlights!

Below we are taking a look back at what was a busy year, while looking forward with excitement at delivering packages to all of these events again, plus some new ones in 2025!

JANUARY
After 25 years on Smith Street, Sportsnet packed up the iconic red building and moved 200m down the road to 425 Smith Street, Fitzroy. Enthused by our shiny new office space, we proceeded to kickstart the year like we always do with the Australian Open.

While our backyard Grand Slam was another roaring success, our parent company Quint started their year in France with the NBA Paris Game.

FEBRUARY
We kickstarted the motorsport season in Australia with the Bathurst 12 Hour and Bathurst 500, jumped the ditch to the Burt Munro Challenge and then launched the F1 season at Bahrain through our partnership with F1 Experiences.

We also took our first (and hopefully not our last!) venture into the exciting world of wrestling with the WWE Elimination Champer: Perth, which saw Drew McIntyre & Becky Lynch emerge victorious.

Through Quint, we also supported our exclusive partnerships with NBA & NHL All Star weekends by sending fans from Asia Pacific to the United States.

MARCH
We were excited to work with the NRL on their first edition of Las Vegas Opening Round – which was a massive hit with fans new and old!

Then we prepared for the world of F1 to come to us for the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, where our annual dinner function at Crown was an off-track highlight of the weekend for many, featuring Supercars, F1 and F2 driver appearances.

We also launched the MotoGP season in Portugal with MotoGP Premier, where Jorge Martin secured the win.

APRIL
April was a massive month for AFL footy, kicking off with Gather Round and wrapping up with one of the best Anzac Day clashes we’ve seen in years, ending in an 85-85 draw!

We headed to the City of Churches for the world’s biggest golf party at LIV Golf Adelaide, and we also hosted a F1 Chinese Grand Prix viewing party with our friends at the Paddock 43 Podcast - something we’re keen to do more of in the future!

MAY
We were excited to support Quint at one of the biggest events on the American horse racing calendar, the Kentucky Derby, where over 150,000 people gathered to experience the tradition and unmatched atmosphere.

We wrapped up the month in style with our 10-night escorted tour through Italy and Monaco for the Monaco Grand Prix, where Charles Leclerc took the win on home soil. It was an unforgettable experience that gave our guests the chance to experience one of F1’s most iconic events.

JUNE
As we reached the halfway point of the year, June was all about the Isle of Man TT. One of Sportsnet Holidays' biggest events, where racegoers travelled from across the globe to witness Michael Dunlop best his Uncle Joey's all-time win record.

We also saw two epic State of Origin games, sending fans to Sydney and Melbourne to witness all the action of Rugby League’s biggest rivalry.

JULY
July we were all over the place. Townsville for Supercars, Chicago for NASCAR, England, Hungary and Belgium for the Formula 1, Germany for the MotoGP and Memphis for the NBA Summer League... just to name the highlights!

AUGUST
August was all about the UFC as UFC 305 headed to Perth for the Du Plessis vs Adesanya, and fight fans from all over the country and world were supported by Sportsnet’s exclusive travel partnership with the UFC in Australia. Our pre-fight dinner function featuring a panel of UFC fighters was a highlight of the weekend!

Outside of the octagon, we sent fans to the Darwin Cup Carnival for our annual party in the Top End, followed the MotoGP around Europe and led a tour back to the Isle of Man for the Manx Grand Prix.

SEPTEMBER
Two Sportsnet favourites take place in September: The Singapore Grand Prix – where once again our function (featuring Liam Lawson and Jack Doohan) was an off-track highlight, and The Birdsville Races – one of Australia’s most unique and remote horseracing experiences.

We also led a tour to Indonesia for the MotoGP, and supported MotoGP Premier in Spain, San Marino and Italy.

OCTOBER
October was a landmark month where we launched Supercars Travel, the Official Travel and Tours Partner of the Repco Supercars Championship. And what better time to launch than alongside two of the biggest races of the year - the Bathurst 1000 and the Gold Coast 500!

We also took fans to the Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island and hosted an unforgettable escorted tour from Bangkok to Buriram for the Thailand MotoGP!

NOVEMBER
November was packed with action, starting with 'the race that stops the nation', where Knight's Choice claimed the crown.

We also sent fans to Penang for the Malaysian Grand Prix and hosted our Riders Dinner Function with MotoGP stars, including Jack Miller.

To top it off, we crossed the ditch for the FAST5 Netball World Series, where Australia secured their third consecutive title.

DECEMBER
To close out the year, we partnered with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras for a first-of-its-kind travel collaboration, making it easier than ever to experience this world-renowned festival. With our ‘Sydney Mardi Gras Packages,’ festivalgoers can book packages that include accommodation, local experiences, and access to exclusive events throughout the Sydney festival!

Join us in 2025
