NZ Hill Climb Champs and Twilight Drag Racing
This morning, take a short walk to the E Hayes and Sons hardware store. Every year, thousands of people journey to this iconic Invercargill hardware store for two reasons - to see the remarkable vintage motorcycles and stand in the presence of a legend. Only in a hardware store will you see Burt Munro's authentic, original and legendary 1920 Indian Scout as part of the E Hayes Motorworks collection.
Afterwards, the action shifts just half an hour south of Invercargill to the legendary Bluff Hill Climb, where tensions are high. Experience the smell of the exhausts, the scream of the engines, and the sheer force of machines as they thunder past, climbing their way to the summit. Join the crowd in cheering on the riders as they twist and weave their way skyward, chasing a finish line that feels like the heavens themselves. While in Bluff, you’ll also be treated to a guided tour and tasting at Bluff Gin Distillery - an experience every bit as bold and unforgettable as the climb.
On the way back to Invercargill, there will be a photo opportunity at Stirling Point Bluff, famous for its signpost, which depicts directions and distances to major cities around the world.
This evening, transfer from the Langlands Hotel to the Twilight Drag Racing. Marvel at the sight of twilight drag racers streaking down the Teretonga Park straight. Once the racing is complete, transfer back to the Langlands Hotel.
Indian Motorcycle Beach Racing and NZ Champs
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the Indian Motorcycle Beach Racing and NZ Champs. Stepping onto the long emptiness of Oreti Beach, where Burt once opened the Throttle, is a raw and awe-inspiring experience. Watch the dirt bikes tear up and down the mile-long circuit from your sand dune grandstand position. Once the racing is complete, transfer back to the Langlands Hotel, where the afternoon and evening are at your leisure.
This afternoon, you may wish to visit the Classic Motorcycle Mecca Museum, where you will discover the largest and most diverse display of classic motorcycles in New Zealand, with more than 300 motorbikes that hail as far back as 1902 at the leading motorcycle museum in the southern hemisphere. Classic Motorcycle Mecca is a two-wheeled paradise for motorcycle fans featuring motorbikes from names such as Indian, Harley Davidson, Vincent, John Britten, Brough Superior, Burt Munro and BMW. This museum is guaranteed to wow, as you will not find any stuffy display cases here, just 360-degree views of some of the finest vintage and veteran motorbikes from around the world.
Super Seller Shelley Speedway
This morning, enjoy a special breakfast at Bill Richardson Transport World. Meet in the hotel lobby where you will coach transfer to visit the Burt Munro burial site and bronze statue before arriving at Bill Richardson Transport World. After enjoying a hot buffet breakfast, take a tour of all the collections on display at the museum. With more than 300 vintage vehicles on display, the Bill Richardson Transport World is the largest private automotive museum of its type in the world.
This afternoon, transfer from the Teretonga Sprint Races to the Speedway. Saturday night at the speedway spectacular is a highlight for most, as the brakeless bikes slide around in the dirt, delighting the huge crowds surrounding the circuit. See all the action from a Curtain Sider Viewing Platform. Savour a tasty BBQ meal with burgers and sausages, provided by the local scout group. Once the racing is complete, transfer back to the Langlands Hotel.
E Hayes & Sons Teretonga Sprint Races and NZ Superbike Champs
After breakfast, you’ll transfer to Teretonga Park for the thrilling final day of competition at the E Hayes and Sons Teretonga Sprint Races and the NZ Superbike Championships. A cold lunch and soft drink will be provided by the local scout group.
Tonight, join your tour leaders and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner. Celebrate and reminisce on the amazing few days of racing you have just witnessed at the 2026 Burt Munro Challenge.
Farewell Invercargill
After breakfast, the tour concludes. Please make your own way to the Invercargill Airport or your onward destination. Thank you for being part of the 2026 Sportsnet Holidays Burt Munro Challenge Escorted Tour.
